Vern W. Wickline Jr. is the proud owner and sole inspector of Southern Home Inspection Services. When buying his first home, Vern decided to put his knowledge of building and construction to good use by completing his own home inspection.
It was at this time that he realized what a good fit he was for the home inspection industry and decided to pursue it as a career. He has now been inspecting homes for 24 years and enjoys using all of his knowledge and experience to benefit the home buyers, sellers, and owners who put their trust in his hands every day.

Vern’s background required him to be exceptionally detail-oriented and professional, even in stressful situations, which is what makes him such a phenomenal home inspector today. Before becoming an inspector, he worked as a Civil Engineer in the United States Air Force.
This job required him to think quick on his feet while remaining mindful of his responsibility for others around him, and he practices these skills to this day as a home inspector. Early in his home inspection career, Vern was simultaneously working for 12 years for St. John’s Water Management District. In this position, he was tasked with overseeing permitting and stormwater compliance.
